“This is a very fast-paced job with really no down time,” she says. “I like that. It makes the day go by a lot faster.”

Johnna came to Pickett Homes in April 2002 after working at Republic Bank in Lexington. A native of Paducah, she graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in finance. She was recommended for the position by outgoing office manager Tracy Barnett, who was with Pickett for three years.

Johnna says that she discovered early on the importance paid to detail and the emphasis on customer service.

“At first I’d write a note (addressing a customer situation) but found out that we have a call-back form that is always used,” she says. “That form has an original and two copies. One stays in the office, one goes to (owner) Bill Pickett, and another to (field supervisor) Steve Shaffer.

“Steve checks off when things are OK and Bill double checks. He says it’s to make sure it gets done. You want to keep the customer happy — and we try to pay attention to every detail to accomplish that.”
